With almost 1,000 intensely managed acres of preserve land and well over six square miles of historically proven free-range whitetail habitat, hunters can explore varying terrain from dense forest and creek bottoms to mazes of agricultural fields and food plots. Depending on the hunting package and season, hunters can use their preference of a rifle (in the preserve only), bow, crossbow, muzzleloader or pistol. We are located in the heart of the scenic and game-rich Zone 9 of Allamakee County, Iowa. Considered by many to be the most beautiful part of of the state, the area is best known throughout the nation for its high concentration of trophy whitetails.  Most of our land runs along the mighty Mississippi River with the topography varying from steep cedar choked limestone bluffs and hardwood ridges to brushy creek bottoms and rolling secluded fields.  Hundreds of apple trees have been planted and a wide array of food plots including turnips, brassicas, peas, kale, alfalfa, clover, rye, barley, corn, soybeans, and sorghum. In addition, numerous sanctuaries have been established in and around our farms to protect and hold mature bucks. We have plenty of water sources and a large variety of stands and blinds.

Iowa’s newest premier whitetail hunting destination! We are part of the well known Northwest Missouri Outfitters St. Josephs Missouri. Many years ago Northwest Missouri Outfitters obtained prime lease ground in south central Iowa. We have managed this ground to offer quality whitetail hunting opportunities to our clients. We currently offer fully-guided shotgun/muzzleloader and archery quality whitetail hunts. Our hunts include meals, lodging, and transportation to and from stands.

The whitetail hunts at Powder Ridge Outfitters are categorized based on three main hunt categories, classic, trophy, and world class. The hunts are generally based on the gross SCI antler score of the bucks that we will be pursuing. We only harvest deer that are three years old or older. If a buck does not meet the age criteria of our management plan, it will not be targeted for harvest, regardless of antler size.

All hunts are one on one guided. Our guides will determine the classification of all bucks for the hunter to be sure we are targeting the correct animals.

Your hunt with us is booked for three days/four nights and will include lodging, meals, guide service, and transportation to and from the University Park Airport (SCE Airport). No license is required to with us on our private preserve.

Whitetail deer hunts are our specialty. We offer some of the highest quality and quantity of white-tailed deer in Texas.
